The EU-Japan INSTAR Workshop brought together policymakers, standardisation experts, industry representatives and cybersecurity authorities to advance cooperation on cybersecurity standardisation.

The workshop explored how the two regions can improve regulatory understanding, align technical standards and develop practical joint initiatives.

A central topic was the potential alignment between Japan’s JC-STAR cybersecurity labelling framework and the EU Cyber Resilience Act. Participants discussed mapping their underlying security requirements, developing compatible reporting formats and creating clearer compliance pathways for companies operating in both markets.

As a concrete outcome, participants agreed to organise a series of closed workshops to continue the dialogue and advance the mapping of EU and Japanese cybersecurity requirements.
